Complete Description

The Emergency Services Tech performs patient care and patient care- related activities under the supervision of an RN/LVN/MD. Performs other support functions involving equipment/supplies/environmental maintenance. The EST may handle/deliver IV solutions or instrument trays that contain medications in the process of setting up for procedures.

High School/GED diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of pre-hospital experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills required.

Current California EMT certification. AB 508 certification required upon hire. MAB* required within 30 days of hire or by the next available class. Incumbents have until 4/1/15 to obtain the training. BCLS for healthcare providers required. Certification is renewed annually (cert. expires end of month in which training takes place).

*Management of Assaultive Behavior must meet AB508 requirements and include training in verbal & physical take down (initial certification must be an 8 hour course and 4 hour re-certification thereafter).
